Welcome to Penguin Pre-School

Where funfun becomes learning!learning!

History

Penguin Pre-School was established in 1993. The Pre-School was first based at St Pauls Church, then moved to Newtown Community Centre and has now been based at Newtown Methodist Church since 2000.
In 1993 the founder of the Pre-School recognised that in this area of the town there was nowhere for children to play together, and this was the reason the Pre-School was established. The Pre-School was set up as friendly place for parents to leave their children to develop their social skills. The Pre-School to this day prides itself in being a friendly environment, for children to take their first exciting steps into education.

Professional Teachers

All of our Early Years Professionals have been handpicked to suit the needs of the Pre-School, children and families. We continue to train our staff so that they have the most current knowledge in Early Years Care, Learning and Education. The staff are trained to pick “teachable” moments throughout the day, linking in with the child’s interests. This method of teaching is proven to be more effective for the child.

Our Approach

We work together alongside the parents/carers. We like to think that we are an extension to the child’s family. The child’s voice is paramount to us! We encourage to develop confident, positive, independent and social children to give them the foundations to who they may become in the future. We aim to develop children to become inquisitive in learning about the world around them and a sense of excitement to learn new things.

About Us

We are a committee run Pre-School and we are registered with OSTED
We are a recognised Charity (charity no Penguin Playgroup 1039260)
We have a team of 13 experienced, dedicated Early Years Professionals that have been handpicked to work at the Pre-School. The staff hold a range of Qualifications to meet the child’s individual needs.
“I am dedicated to ensuring that we provide the best quality possible in teaching Early Years. I have a highly professional team of staff, which always go the extra mile to support our children and families”

My son loves going to Penguins. He is very shy & I was worried about him settling in. I didn't need to worry at all as within a few days he was fine. The staff are fantastic too and always ready to help where they can.
